Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5

After 17 years of ban against whaling the whaling ship "Hvalur 9" (Whale 9) caught its first catch of the season. The harpooning of the Fin whale, occurred at noon, Saturday October 21 2006. The whale was then sailed to the whaling station at "Hvalfjörður" (Whalefjord) where it arrived the day after around 9.30 in the morning. A fairly big crowd in high spirits gathered to witness the event. The view towards whaling among the Icelandic population is however mixed.
The video has a running time of about 33 minutes but is split into 5 segments, Part 1 to 5. It's the first edition/cut of the video depicting the processing of the whale. The actual recording is 4 hours of broadcast quality video.
