After 17 years of ban against whaling the whaling ship "Hvalur 9" (Whale 9) caught its first catch of the season. The catch occurred at noon, Saturday October 21 2006. The whale was then sailed to the whaling station at "Hvalfjörður" (Fjord of the Whales). Iceland has now commenced commercial whaling.
